"I don't think that he has committed impeachable offenses, and I never have," Flake said when asked if he would vote to impeach President Trump.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) has been one of President Trump’s staunchest GOP critics since even before Trump assumed office last year, but on Wednesday the retiring senator said that he would not vote to impeach Trump if articles of impeachment came to the Senate floor.

During an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Democratic fundraiser Steven Rattner asked Flake if he would vote to impeach Trump if articles of impeachment were ever brought to the Senate floor.

“I’d vote no,” Flake responded. “I don’t think the president has committed impeachable offenses. I don’t like some of his behavior, and I’m going to talk about some of that today with regard to his treatment of the press. But I don’t think that he has committed impeachable offenses, and I never have,” Flake said.

Flake is expected to deliver a speech criticizing Trump and his administration for its treatment of the press, comparing Trump’s rhetoric to that of former Soviet dictator Josef Stalin.
