Prior to the opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem on Monday, Jerusalem’s soccer team honored President Trump’s commitment to Israel by renaming themselves after the president.

According to a report from The Mirror, Beitar Jerusalem announced Monday that they would henceforth be known as Beitar Trump Jerusalem.

In a statement, the club called Trump “courageous” for standing with Israel:

In a statement they said: “The chairmen of the club, the owner Eli Tabib and the executive manager Eli Ohana have decided to add to the club’s title the name of the American President who made history, and from now on will be called Beitar Trump Jerusalem.

“We have the greatest love for the president, and we will win.

“For 70 years, Jerusalem has been awaiting international recognition, until President Donald Trump, in a courageous move, recognised Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel.

“President Trump has shown courage and true love of the Israeli people and their capital, and these days other countries are following his lead in giving Jerusalem its rightful status.”

Beitar Trump Jerusalem is currently in second place in the Israeli Premier League standings, behind only Hapoel Be’er of Berrsheba.
