"I think [Trump] certainly ought to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Carter said.
Former President Jimmy Carter said, in comments published this week, that President Donald Trump should be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize if peace on the Korean Peninsula is achieved.
Politico‘s Edward-Isaac Dovere asked Carter, during an interview with Politico‘s “Off Message” on Tuesday, whether he believes that Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for the progress achieved with North Korea so far.
“Well not so far,” Carter said. “But if President Trump is successful in getting a peace treaty that’s acceptable to both sides with North Korea, I think he certainly ought to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize. I think it would be a worthy and a momentous accomplishment that no previous president has been able to realize.”
