July Jobs Report: U.S. Adds 157K Jobs, Unemployment Dips Below 4%

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday morning that the U.S. added 157,000 jobs in the month of July while the nation’s unemployment rate dipped below four percent for the third time in seven months this year.

The jobs number is the lowest since March, but is the tenth straight month the U.S. added 155,000 jobs or more.

It’s also the third time in 2018 that the unemployment rate has been below four percent. In April 2018 the unemployment rate was also 3.9 percent, and in May it was 3.8 percent.

Before April 2018’s sub-four percent figure, the unemployment rate in the U.S. had not dipped below four percent since 2000.
