The U.S. created 213,000 nonfarm jobs in the month of June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) latest jobs report.

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 213,000 in June, and the unemployment rate rose to 4.0 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job growth occurred in professional and business services, manufacturing, and health care, while retail trade lost jobs.

The number of jobs created beat economists’ expectations for the month of June, while the unemployment rate is 0.2 percent higher than economists expected.

It’s the third time in six months of 2018 that the U.S. economy has created 200,000 jobs or more, and the eighth time in 17 months of Donald Trump’s presidency.

Under Trump’s watch (February 2017 – present) the U.S. economy has created 3.2 million jobs. Trump has made creating 25 million jobs in 10 years a goal of his presidency.
