“We’re all fighting for our justice, for our freedom. And realizing that we are all in this fight together makes us all the more powerful,” Kaepernick said on Thursday.

Former NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick spent his Thanksgiving at the closed Alcatraz prison in San Francisco, CA, participating in ‘Unthanksgiving Day.’

The annual Unthanksgiving Day on Alcatraz “commemorates the nine-month occupation of the prison by Native American activists from 1969-1971.”

Kaepernick posted the following video on his Twitter account:

“I realize our fight is the same fight. We’re all fighting for our justice, for our freedom. And realizing that we are all in this fight together makes us all the more powerful,” Kaepernick told the crowd.

Kaepernick started the controversial movement of kneeling during the national anthem before the start of NFL games in 2016 to protest police brutality.
