Klobuchar’s 2020 Message: My In-Laws Are on Board

"There’s nothing more powerful than your mother-in-law in parades that has the shirt that says, I’m Amy’s mother-in-law."

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), a possible 2020 presidential candidate, seemed to be testing out an odd presidential message during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday: her in-laws on are board.

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski asked Klobuchar about whether her 2020 ambitions would impact her questioning of President Trump’s attorney general nominee, William Barr, during his confirmation hearing on Tuesday.

“It won’t impact my questioning in any way. I have a very focused approach, just as I did in the Kavanaugh hearings,” Klobuchar said.

Klobuchar admitted that she is very seriously considering running for president in 2020.

“I also had said I wanted to talk to my family, so big news today, my family is on board, including my in-laws, showing some momentum,” Klobuchar said.

“Wow,” Brzezinski interjected at Klobuchar’s stunning revolutation that she had somehow managed to gain the support of her in-laws for her presidential bid.

“But I will make this decision on my own course, regardless of what other candidates are doing. I think what America wants is someone that is going to make their own decisions, that’s not going to be influenced by every tweet out from the White House, or what happens every single day in the news. I think they need a president that’s there for them in the long haul,” Klobuchar said.

“Well, you’re a big step closer if your family’s on board,” Brzezinski said.

“It’s big news, and as you said even your in-laws are on board so that’s a lot of momentum, I mean,” MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said.

“There’s nothing more powerful than your mother-in-law in parades that has the shirt that says, ‘I’m Amy’s mother-in-law,’ and then people say, ‘That’s so cool, your mother-in-law’s supporting you,’ and you want to say, ‘Who else is she going to support?’ But there you go,” Klobuchar responded.
