Member of Parliament Jon Ashworth, who is part of the Labor Party and currently serves as the Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, said that the United Kingdom should not make President Trump’s upcoming visit a “pleasant experience,” during a panel discussion on “Question Time” on Monday.

“I just think those pictures of children in cages was heartbreaking. This man is disgusting of course he has to come here, he’s the President of the United States,” Ashworth said. “Let’s not make any bones about it: he’s foul. It is obnoxious what he is doing. He should not have been putting those children in cages.”

Ashworth then blasted Trump for pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement and imposing steel tariffs.

“He is making the world less safe. He’s making the world more polluted. He’s making the world less secure. I mean, look, I understand why he has got to go here or come here. But let’s not give him any red carpet or make it a pleasant experience for him,” Ashworth said.

The moderator asked Ashworth what he was going to do as a senior member of the Labor Party when he is invited to hear Trump speak.

Ashworth expressed doubt that he would be invited, but if he were, he would probably have another event to attend.

Trump will visit the United Kingdom on July 13th and is scheduled to meet with Queen Elizabeth II. There are already anti-Trump protests planned.
