Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) has faced cancer before and won. Wednesday, he showed that could do it twice, sharing a photo on Twitter that put his will to live on full display.

“Larry – 2/Cancer – 0,” the tweet read, showing the scars that the governor endured while undergoing surgery for skin cancer.

Hogan previously defeated cancer in 2015, when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Almost three years after his diagnosis, the cancer remains in remission.

Hogan’s recent cancer was a “very nonserious skin cancer,” he said, according to The Washington Post. The governor attributed the new disease to his youthful jobs as a Florida lifeguard:

Hogan said the skin cancers are likely the result of “one of the best jobs he had before being governor”: six years working as a lifeguard in Florida.

“I wanted to look good with a dark tan so I never put sunscreen on,” he said. “And that’s probably the root of it. I spent a lot of time baking in the sun.”

Hogan is one of the most popular governors in the country, with a 66 percent approval rating, second only to Gov. Charlie Baker’s (R-MA) 69 percent approval.
