Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before the Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees on Tuesday, giving senators from across the country an opportunity to question the tech leader about Facebook’s business practices.

One of those senators was Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL), one of the most vulnerable Democrat incumbents running for reelection in 2018.

“Yesterday when we talked, I gave the relatively harmless example that I’m communicating with my friends on Facebook and indicate that I love a certain kind of chocolate,” Nelson said. “And all of a sudden, I start receiving advertisements for chocolate.”

“What if I don’t want to receive those commercial advertisements?” Nelson asked.

Before the clip of Nelson ended, Kimmel’s studio audience can be heard laughing at the line of questioning.

“Well then you wouldn’t get any chocolate, I guess,” Kimmel said after the clip ended.

Nelson’s questioning demonstrated just how out of touch some senators are when it comes to technology and social platforms.

Nelson, 75, just drew a serious challenger on Monday in Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL), the two-term governor from southwest Florida whose name recognition and personal wealth could put Nelson’s reelection in serious jeopardy.
