Leonard Leo, the executive vice president of the Federalist Society, said that people should not be worried about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, calling it a liberal scare tactic during an interview on CBS’s “This Morning,” on Thursday.

CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell asked Leo if he believed that President Trump’s Supreme Court pick to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Roe v. Wade has been a scare tactic that has gone back 36 years,” Leo said. “Nothing has happened to Roe in that period time, and for me, it’s not about Roe v. Wade.”

Leo explained that it’s about interpreting the Constitution as it’s written.

CBS News’ Gayle King asked Leo directly if people should be worried about Roe v. Wade going away.

“I don’t think people should be worried about Roe v. Wade or any other particular case. I think they should be worried about having judges who are really going to interpret the law as it’s written.”
