Like a Lamb to the Slaughter: PA Dem Critical of Lobbyists, Omits Fact His Father is One

Conor Lamb, a 33-year-old Democrat running for Congress in Western Pennsylvania, blasted the Republican tax plan on Twitter earlier this month, but a new report from the Washington Free Beacon reveals more to this story.

Lamb seized on a viral tweet of Sen. Claire McCaskill on December 1 to vocalize his own displeasure with the GOP tax reform package.

“We were promised infrastructure & jobs, instead we get big tax cuts for the rich written by & for corporate lobbyists,” Lamb wrote.

But according to the Beacon’s Brent Scher, Lamb’s father, Thomas Lamb, is one of those corporate lobbyists. He works for PNC Financial Services Group.

The tweet, one of his most popular, failed to mention that his father Thomas Lamb is senior vice president of government affairs for PNC, which disclosed last quarter that it was lobbying both chambers of Congress on tax reform proposals.

Oops? A spokesman for the younger Lamb tried to claim the elder Lamb is no longer a lobbyist, but records show he registered as a lobbyist in 1998 and state records show he remains a lobbyist in the Pennsylvania’s lobbyist directory.

Lamb is running to for the seat vacated by former Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA), who represented the 18th Congressional District, which spans parts of Allegheny, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties in the Pittsburgh suburbs.
