Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told ABC’s Martha Raddatz during an interview on Sunday that if President Trump ever fired Special Counsel Robert Mueller, it would be the end of his presidency.

The New York Times reported that Trump considered firing Mueller last summer, but White House Counsel Don McGahn persuaded Trump not to follow through with the action.

Raddatz asked Graham about a previous comment Trump made where he told reporters he never considered firing Mueller and whether this meant Trump had lied to the American people.

“This is for Mr. Mueller to determine. We’re not going to stop looking at the president because he claims the New York Times is fake news and we’re not going to convict him base on a news article,” Graham responded.

Graham then told Raddatz that he believes Mueller is the perfect person to conduct this investigation and that at this moment in time, he sees no evidence that Trump wants to fire Mueller.

“It’s pretty clear to me that everybody in the White House knows that it would be the end of President Trump’s presidency if he fired Mr. Mueller,” Graham concluded.
