Look Who’s Sitting Mere Feet Away From Mike Pence at the Winter Olympics

At the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, Vice President Mike Pence sat mere feet away from an official North Korean head of state, Kim Yo Jong, the sister of Kim Jong Un.

In a photo posted by AFP’s Alex Ogle, Pence is seated two seats to the right and one row in front of Kim.

The opening ceremony was not the only time that the two were in close proximity. At separate dinner for world leaders, Pence reportedly refused to shake Kim’s hand:

North Korea sent Kim to the Olympics, amid a period of warming relations between the North and the South. But the communist dictatorship has been confrontational with the United States in recent months.

The Trump administration adopted an aggressive posture meant to contain Pyongyang from the beginning, threatening the communist nation with a military response after a series of provocative nuclear and missile tests.
