March Jobs: 103K Added, 4.1% Unemployment Rate

The March jobs report was weaker than most from the last several months, but the unemployment rate remained low.

March Jobs: 103K Added, 4.1% Unemployment Rate

The U.S. economy added 103,000 jobs in the month of March, according to a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released on Friday.

Total nonfarm payroll employment edged up by 103,000 in March, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment increased in manufacturing, health care, and mining.

The jobs report is a step down from February, when BLS reported the U.S. economy added 313,000 jobs. On Friday, BLS revised the February jobs number up to 326,000 jobs added.

With the March report, the U.S. economy has created 2.7 million jobs since President Trump took office.

President Trump has pledged to add 25 million jobs overall in the next 10 years, an average of 2.5 million jobs per year.
