MOB MENTALITY: Angry Socialists Chase Mitch McConnell in Restaurant Parking Lot

An angry mob of “democratic socialists” and protesters chased Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) through a restaurant parking lot in Kentucky on Saturday, according to the Washington Post.

The incident occurred at Bristol Bar & Grille in Louisville, just a few miles from Louisville’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office where a protest was underway that day. The group caught wind of McConnell’s whereabouts and mobilized the mob to relocate to the restaurant parking lot.

Upon the Kentucky Republican’s exit from the restaurant, the group began hurling personal insults and threats, as well as attempting to physically block McConnell’s path:

As McConnell’s party turned a corner into the parking lot, a woman with an ankle-length dress and a backpack tried to block their path. She walked a step ahead of the Senate’s top Republican, and the rest of the crowd followed close behind, still chanting and shouting.

“Where are the babies, Mitch?”

“Turtle head!”

The democratic socialists claimed several members in the crowd. But Andrew Massie, whose video of the confrontation went viral, said later that the socialists didn’t invite the man who called the majority leader “turtle head” and a few moments later shouted: “We know where you live, too, Mitch! We know where you live! Yeah! We know where you live, Mitch!”

McConnell said nothing as the group began chanting “Abolish ICE!”

This is the second such confrontation that McConnell has faced in as many weeks. A group of protesters shouted at McConnell and his wife, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, as the two exited an event in Georgetown one evening. Chao told those individuals to “leave my husband alone.”

These protests come after Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) told a rally of supporters to do exactly what these protesters in Kentucky did – publicly accost Trump administration officials at restaurants and stores.

“If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, at a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” Waters said last month.

McConnell’s campaign Twitter account had some fun with the incident on Monday, tweeting a quote from McConnell:
