The Indiana U.S. Senate race may be moving in the direction of Republican Mike Braun, according to a new poll released Tuesday.

Indy Politics published the results of its survey on Tuesday morning and found Braun leads Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN) by four points (47-43).

Indy Politics reported that Donnelly’s vote against Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s elevation to the Supreme Court may have played a role in Braun’s new lead:

The poll also indicated that Donnelly’s vote against Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court might be having some impact, albeit not as much as Republicans might have hoped. Thirty percent of likely voters said they more likely to vote for Donnelly because of his vote against Kavanaugh while only 35 percent said they were less likely. And 32 percent of likely voters said Donnelly’s vote did not matter.

The four-point Braun lead matches the results of an internal poll Braun’s campaign released on Monday. That poll showed Braun with a 44-40 lead.

A separate public poll released Monday found the race a virtual tie: 41 percent for Donnelly, 40 percent for Braun.

Still, if Braun can get the Indiana U.S. Senate race trending in his direction, it will be very welcome news for Republicans. If the GOP can flip the North Dakota and Indiana seats – the former is looking like an increasingly-likely flip – then Democrats must win all four competitive GOP-held seats (Arizona, Nevada, Tennessee, and Texas) to recapture the majority.
