Rep. Seth Moulton (D-CT) said during an interview that ran Tuesday that impeaching President Trump is a terrible thing for Democrats to be talking about ahead of the 2018 midterm elections but added he would support impeaching Trump, if there was a bipartisan agreement.

Politico’s Edward-Isaac Dovere asked Moulton if he thought Trump should be impeached.

Moulton told a story about a blessing President John Adams gave during the first meal at the White House in which Adams said, “May only good and honest men live here.”

“Sadly, I can’t say that Donald Trump is a good or an honest man,” Moulton said.

Dovere pressed Moulton for an answer on whether he would support impeaching Trump.

“Well, look, impeachment is a complicated thing. I think it only happens when you have bipartisan agreement that he needs to be impeached, and we’re certainly not there,” Moulton said. “By the way, I think this is a terrible thing to be talking about for Democrats right now.”

Dovere followed up by asking Moulton if he would impeach Trump, if it were in his power.

“If Republicans agreed,” Moulton said and added that it wouldn’t have to be all Republicans but rather a consensus of the country.
