MSNBC’s Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle summarized the results of the North Korean missile launch on their show on Wednesday, pointing out that the missile could reach almost anywhere in the United States.

“The missile went 10 times higher than the height of the International Space Station’s orbit, according to South Korean intelligence,” Ruhle reported.

Velshi used a graphic to explain that the test – the main purpose of which was to experiment with a new re-entry vehicle – indicated the missile could travel 8,100 miles if fired at a different angle.

“San Francisco and Los Angeles are well within 6,000 miles from North Korean missiles. New York and Washington are within 7,000 miles of a rocket journey,” Velshi said.

The MSNBC host tempered the predictions though, pointing out that it was not clear if the missile would be able to travel the same distance with “a full nuclear payload.”

If the missile could reach all of the continental United States, it would present a existential nuclear threat to the country and a massive test for President Trump.
