MSNBC Runs 10-Minute Segment Accusing GOP of Being Infiltrated by White Nationalists

MSNBC ran a 10-minute segment on Wednesday morning that accused the Republican Party of having been infiltrated by white nationalist organizations that were part of the deadly “Unite the Right” rally that occurred last year in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The segment features NBC’s Peter Alexander interviewing Patrick Casey, the executive director of Identity Evropa. The cable network argued that the report needed to air “so that parents and college students are aware that these groups are out there.”

Identity Evropa is identified as a white supremacist organization by the Anti-Defamation League and is designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a “hate group.”

After MSNBC’s reporting, there is no doubt that Identity Evropa is both a white supremacist organization and a hate group.

Casey does admit that members of Identity Evropa are discreetly attempting to infiltrate the Republican Party by attending College Republican meetings.

What is problematic with MSNBC’s reporting is their assertion that Identity Evropa has been successful at infiltrated the Republican Party at any significant level.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) refused to comment on MSNBC’s reporting, telling them “they didn’t want to elevate the group.”

The rest of segment consisted of MSNBC’s Craig Melvin interviewing the Washington Post’s Eugene Scott about Identity Evropa’s attempts to infiltrate the GOP.
