Mueller: ‘Many Stories’ About Investigation Are Fake News

Following a McClatchy report about a possible Michael Cohen trip to Prague during the 2016 election, a spokesman for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation slammed the media, without specifically mentioning the report, for “many stories” that are “inaccurate.”

The Steele dossier alleged that Cohen traveled to Prague to coordinate anti-Clinton efforts between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence. President Trump’s lawyer denied the story, but the McClatchy report alleged that Mueller could prove Cohen actually made the trip.

But a statement from Mueller’s spokesman, provided to The Daily Caller, cast doubt on much of the media’s narrative surrounding the probe:

“What I have been telling all reporters is that many stories about our investigation have been inaccurate. Be very cautious about any source that claims to have knowledge about our investigation and dig deep into what they claim before reporting on it,” the spokesperson said. “If another outlet reports something, don’t run with it unless you have your own sourcing to back it up.”

The left, seemingly obsessed with the Mueller investigation, has used fake news about the probe to drive their base against Trump. Just yesterday, an email from the DCCC, signed by Nancy Pelosi, told recipients in the subject line that the president fired the special counsel.
