Mick Mulvaney, the director of Office of Management and Budget and the interim director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, told Fox News’ Chris Wallace on Sunday that he does not expect White House Chief of Staff John Kelly to lose his job.

Mulvaney said that the president was “absolutely not” considering replacing Kelly following the fallout from the Rob Porter scandal.

“I think all the stories about replacing General Kelly are mostly being fed by people who are unhappy that they’ve lost access to the president under General Kelly’s leadership as chief of staff,” he added. “I’m extraordinarily pleased with the job the chief has been doing.”

Mulvaney reiterated his belief that disgruntled former employees or informal advisers were leaking information to the press in retaliation for Kelly’s severing access to the president.

The OMB director told Wallace that media accounts of the Trump White House were very different from reality.

“The place is very stable, very quiet,” he said, crediting Kelly with the order brought to a once chaotic West Wing.
