House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that she would vote no on the two-year budget deal that Republicans and Democrats reached on Wednesday during a press conference on Thursday.

Pelosi spent eight hours Wednesday on the House floor reading various letters from so-called Dreamers in protest of the two-year budget deal, which does not include legislation protecting young, undocumented immigrants.

“Many of our priorities are in the bill. I have an unease with it and hope that the Speaker will man up and decide we in the House can have what Mitch McConnell guaranteed in the Senate,” Pelosi told reporters on Thursday.

Pelosi is referring to the deal that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) struck to end the previous government shutdown that guaranteed a vote of immigration reform legislation that addressed the issue of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

A reporter then asked Pelosi if she would be voting in favor of the two-year budget deal.

“No, I won’t,” Pelosi, responded.

For the two-year budget deal to get through the House, it needs Democratic support. If Pelosi whips the Democratic caucus to vote no on the two-year budget deal, it would likely mean another government shutdown.
