"My reaction, not to what they said but that that's where we find ourselves here, is sadness, frankly a bit of resignation," Silver said.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said on Wednesday that it’s sad America is at a place where professional athletes no longer want to visit the White House because of President Trump.

Silver made the comments during an interview before Game Three of the NBA Finals.

ESPN’s Chauncey Billups asked Silver what he thinks about NBA superstars LeBron James and Steph Curry saying that, if they win the NBA championship, they will not visit the Trump White House.

“My reaction, not to what they said but that that’s where we find ourselves here, is sadness, frankly, a bit of resignation,” Silver said. “But I don’t think it should take away from these players in our league, our coaches are speaking on issues that are important to them and important to society. I encourage them to continue to do that.”
