NBC fired its star newsman Matt Lauer, one of the most recognizable names and faces in the media industry, on Wednesday morning following complaints Lauer engaged in “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.”

Lauer’s former “TODAY” co-host, Savannah Guthrie, read a statement from NBC News Chairman Andy Lack at the top of Wednesday’s show:

Lack’s memo notes it’s the first complaint NBC has received against Lauer in his 20-plus-year career, but that NBC had reason to believe Lauer’s inappropriate behavior extended beyond this alleged incident.

According to the New York Post‘s Page Six, the incident in question is an alleged sexual assault of “a female NBC staffer during the Rio Olympics.”

A source told Page Six, “An NBC staffer come forward with a claim that Matt sexually assaulted her at the Olympics. There have been rumors about Matt having affairs with subordinates at NBC for years, but those were believed to be consensual. This incident in Rio was not.”

And CNN‘s Brian Stelter confirmed that Variety and The New York Times have been working on stories concerning Lauer’s conduct in the workplace.

President Trump tweeted about the news and piled on Wednesday morning, encouraging “top executives,” including Lack, to be “fired for putting out so much Fake News.”

“Access Hollywood,” which played host to Trump when he made his now-infamous comments bragging of sexual assault, is a property of NBCUniversal.
