The Senate Leadership Fund released its first TV attack ad against Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) on Wednesday. The ad featured a voice-over by Vice President Mike Pence, highlighting all the times Manchin voted against President Trump’s agenda at a recent event in West Virginia.

The ad begins with Pence telling the audience: “People of the Mountain State, you deserve to know: when it came to cutting your taxes, Joe voted no. Joe voted no to give working families more of your hard-earned money.”

While audio from Pence’s speech is played, pictures of Manchin standing beside Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appear on screen along with text that reads “#JoeVotedNo.”

“Joe voted no on tax cuts for job creators and on expanding the child tax credit, giving you your first $2,400 in income tax-free, Joe voted no,” Pence said. “When the time came to repeal and replace the disaster of Obamacare, Joe voted no. When we empowered West Virginia to defund Planned Parenthood, Joe voted no.”

“And when it comes to that wall that we’re gonna build on the southern border, Joe said quote–” Pence said as the ad cuts to a video of Manchin saying, “I’m not voting for the wall either,” with accompanying on-screen text.

“Now that might make Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi pretty happy, but West Virginia needs to let him know: you expect better from Joe,” Pence concluded.

The ad, which is titled, “Joe Voted No,” will run on cable for ten days according to Politico, “and on broadcast during the Sunday shows in the Charleston and Huntington and Bluefield and Beckley markets.”

Manchin is consistently ranked as one of the most vulnerable Senate Democrats up for reelection in 2018. President Trump won West Virginia by over 40 points in 2016.
