The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a super PAC backed by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), released a new ad Tuesday featuring Randy Bryce’s brother James Bryce attacking his brother’s anti-police rhetoric.

Randy Bryce is the Democratic candidate running to replace Ryan in Wisconsin’s First Congressional District. Ryan is retiring from Congress at the end of this term.

The ad starts with James Bryce speaking directly to the camera, touting his 23-year career as a police officer.

“FBI statistics show that assaults against law enforcement have gone up in the last few years. From my perspective, this has been motivated in part by cop-hating rhetoric,” James Bryce said. “I’ve been to three cop’s funerals in the last two years.”

“When people refer to police officers as terrorists, that hits a little close to home,” James Bryce said, in reference to a 2012 tweet by Randy Bryce that refers to police as “terrorists.”

“I don’t think people want to be represented by someone who’s shown contempt for those in law enforcement. That’s one of the many reasons why I’m voting for Bryan Steil for Congress,” James Bryce said.

According to the Washington Post, CLF “has reserved $1.5 million in TV and digital advertising for a district that Ryan has represented since 1999.”
