New Poll: 20% of Americans Either Don’t Know or Don’t Believe the Holocaust Happened

The Hudson Institute, a politically conservative think tank in Washington, D.C., released a new poll that showed 20 percent of Americans either do not think the Holocaust happened or aren’t sure.

“Do you believe that it is true that in the Holocaust the Nazi Regime targeted and exterminated six million European Jews?” the poll asked.

While the overwhelming majority of likely 2020 general election voters answered yes to this question, 8 percent said no and another 12 percent said they don’t know.

The poll also showed that the vast majority of Americans believe the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement is anti-Semitic.

“The Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) movement is seen as anti-Semitic by a majority of likely voters by a nearly 3-to-1 ratio,” the Hudson Institute said. “A plurality of respondents think the U.S. should oppose BDS campaigns.”

The poll showed that 51 percent of those surveyed had a favorable view of Israel, compared to just 21 percent who had an unfavorable view. The vast majority of those surveyed, 75 percent, agreed it is in America’s interest to have Israel as its closest ally in the Middle East.
