New Poll Could Spell Trouble for Sanders in 2020

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released on Sunday could spell trouble for 2020 presidential hopeful and self-avowed democratic socialist, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

The poll found that only 18 percent of Americans have a positive view of socialism, while 50 percent of Americans hold a negative view.

Those numbers were reversed when asked about capitalism, with 50 percent saying they have a positive view and just 19 percent saying they view capitalism negatively.

Sanders’ presidential campaign is centered around socialist policies like Medicare for All and free college, issues for which the 77-year-old Sanders has spent much of his political care lobbying.

The other problem for Sanders, according to the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, is the Vermont senator’s age.

According to the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, “being a socialist or over 75 are the least desirable characteristics for a presidential candidate.”
