New Poll Finds Half of Americans Now Believe Trump ‘Witch Hunt’ Victim

According to the poll, 50 percent of Americans "agree with Trump's assertion that the special counsel's investigation is a "witch hunt."

New Poll Finds Half of Americans Now Believe Trump ‘Witch Hunt’ Victim

A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll released on Monday showed that half of American’s agree with President Trump’s assertion that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into collusion between Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russia is a “witch hunt,” as trust in Mueller has fallen to its lowest level in this poll’s history.

According to the poll, 50 percent of Americans “agree with Trump’s assertion that the special counsel’s investigation is a ‘witch hunt’ and that he has been subjected to more investigations than previous presidents because of politics.”

Democrats and Republicans a deeply divided on the issue, though, with 86 percent of Republicans saying Trump is the victim of a “witch hunt” and only 12 percent of Democrats agreeing.

A majority of independents, 54 percent, also agree that Trump is the victim of a “witch hunt.”

While Democrats and Republicans were divided on this issue, they both agree that Mueller’s final report should be made public.

According to USA Today:

The poll finds overwhelming and bipartisan support for releasing the report, whatever it finds. In all, 82 percent say it is important to them that the report be made public; 62 percent call that “very important.”

The poll also found that support among Americans for impeaching President Trump has fallen to its lowest level for this poll, with only 28 percent saying that House should seriously consider impeaching Trump and 62 percent opposed to idea.
