New Poll Finds McSally in Commanding Position for AZ-Sen. Primary

Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) is in good position in her three-way GOP primary for U.S. Senate, according to a poll released this week.

McSally, seen as the most likely candidate to beat Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and keep Arizona’s U.S. Senate seat in GOP hands this fall, is topping her next closest challenger, controversial candidate Kelli Ward, by 14 points. Former felon Joe Arpaio is at 14 percent.

The results represent a bump from six months ago, when McSally was leading Arpaio by around nine points and Ward by around 12 points.

One Nation, a nonprofit group closely tied to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), is supporting McSally, and came out with a new ad boosting her campaign this month.

The GOP primary for U.S. Senate in Arizona takes place on August 28.
