NEW POLL: McSally Has Commanding Lead Over Arpaio, Ward in AZ-Sen

Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) leads her nearest opponent by more than eight percentage points, according to a new poll from Data Orbital released Tuesday.

The poll of Arizona voters gave McSally 31 percent, while former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and State Senator Kelli Ward received 22 percent and 19 percent, respectively. Nearly 30 percent of voters are undecided about 7 months ahead of the August primary:

Both McSally and Arpaio entered the race last week, and Ward challenged Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in the state’s last GOP primary in 2016.

McSally is largely seen as the most electable candidate, as Arpaio required a presidential pardon last year for a federal conviction and Ward has engaged in baseless conspiracy theories.

The primary date is more than eight months away, occurring on August 28.
