The Republican National Committee (RNC) released a new web video on Tuesday that hits House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for their hypocrisy regarding shutting down the government over immigration reform.

The web video, which is titled, “Chuck and Nancy Attack Themselves,” features a montage of past statements made by Pelosi and Schumer regarding how devastating shutting down the government would be for Americans.

Pelosi and Schumer backed out of a meeting with President Trump, Speaker Paul Ryan, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday to discuss how to avoid a government shutdown.

The biggest sticking point between Republicans and Democrats when it comes to funding the government at the moment is what to do about immigration reform.

“Chuck and Nancy are holding the government hostage now. But sang a different tune before,” the ad says in text on the screen.

Then a clip of Schumer is played from an appearance on ABC News’ “This Week,” saying that Democrats could shut down the government over immigration reform but that it “would be governmental chaos.”

This is followed by a clip of Pelosi explaining the “stunning array” of people who would be negatively affected by a government shutdown.

“It’s a politics of idiocy of confrontation, of paralysis,” Schumer says in another clip while again using the example of shutting down the government over immigration reform.

The web video concludes with Pelosi saying, “They want to shut down government, and this is really shameful.”
