Newsweek Suggests Jared Kushner is Going to Die ‘Because He Doesn’t Read’

Newsweek magazine suggested in a Friday piece that President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, would die sooner “because he doesn’t read.

The piece, “Jared Kushner Doesn’t Read and That Could Take Years Off His Life” by Kate Sheridan, seems to be a strange, off-base attempt to warn the reader that a lack of reading could lead to a higher chance of dementia:

Readers live about two years longer on average than non-readers, researcher Avni Bavishi and her team at the Yale School of Public Health estimated in their paper, published in September 2016 in Social Science and Medicine. She and her colleagues used data from the Health and Retirement Study, a long-term project run at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research, which included about 3,000 participants. They separated the participants into two groups based on how much they read, and measured how long it would take for 20 percent of the people in each of the groups to die.

Most of the article details the health pitfalls of being a non-reader, and Kushner is only mentioned at the beginning of the piece and once in the middle, when a former Kushner employee told Newsweek that the now-White House adviser doesn’t read much.

While Kushner may be disturbed at the news that his life could be cut short, he may find it useful to present the piece as evidence that he had not read emails from WikiLeaks and Russians, amid new reports that he hid such messages from investigators.
