"To stop a bad guy with a gun, it takes a good guy with a gun," NRA chair Wayne LaPierre said at CPAC on Thursday.

Wayne LaPierre, the chairman of the National Rifle Association (NRA), expressed his opinion that schools should be the most difficult targets to attack in the United States, during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Thursday.

LaPierre’s speech at CPAC marked the first public comments he’s made since the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

“It should not be easier for a madman to shoot up a school than a bank or a jewelry store or some Hollywood gala. Schools must be the most-hardened targets in this country,” LaPierre said. “And evil must be confronted immediately with all necessary force to protect our kids.”

“I said five years ago, after that horrible tragedy in Newtown, and I wish, oh, God, I wish more had heeded my words. So lean in, listen to me now, and never forget these words. To stop a bad guy with a gun, it takes a good guy with a gun,” LaPierre concluded.
