The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) reported raising $10.1 million in January, besting its previous record for this month by $3.6 million. It also marks the first time in eight months that the NRCC has outraised its Democrat counterpart, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

The NRCC now has a massive $50.6 million in cash on hand, nearly $16 million more than at this point in the 2016 cycle, according to the Washington Times.

Committee Republicans are attributing the increased cash flow to effective legislating and messaging.

“With the advent of tax reform, Republicans are on offense as we start 2018,” said NRCC Communications Director Matt Gorman. “We have the right message, the right candidates, and the right amount of resources to continue The Great American Comeback for the American people and keep the House in November.”

House Democrats had consistently outraised their Republican counterparts for eight months prior to Tuesday’s announcement from the NRCC. Democrats raised $9.3 million in January.

That’s the opposite of the Republican National Committee’s 2017 storyline, which largely saw the GOP organization consistently outraise the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The RNC announced Tuesday it raised $12.4 million in January, but Democrats have not yet released their numbers.

The RNC raised $144.9 million in 2017 and reported no debt.
