Ocasio-Cortez Accuses Crowley of Mounting Third-Party Run

Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described Democratic Socialist, accused her primary opponent, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY), of planning to mount a third-party challenge to her in the upcoming general election.

Ocasio-Cortez shocked Crowley in a congressional Democratic primary last month, defeating a man likely to succeed Nancy Pelosi as the leader of the Democratic Party.

Now the socialist candidate says that Crowley has avoided concession calls and is planning on “mounting a 3rd party challenge” from the Working Families Party ticket.

Ocasio-Cortez cited a New York Times story that Crowley would be on the November ballot.

For his part, Crowley denied a third-party run, blaming Ocasio-Cortez’s staff for blowing off the calls.
