Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is determined to reshape the Democratic Party, and she appears willing to use whatever tools necessary to do it.

The New York socialist candidate for Congress, who supports abolishing ICE, Sanders-style Medicare for All, and Democrats’ free jobs plan, recently defeated Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in a primary race that shocked the political world. Many expected Crowley to become the next Democratic caucus leader in the House.

But Ocasio-Cortez isn’t stopping there. Almost immediately after her win, the 28-year-old voiced support for challenging House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s role as top Democrat in the House, and for a little-known candidate challenging Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL).

Now a new report indicates that Ocasio-Cortez is “deploying members of her growing campaign staff to help another liberal upstart seeking to unseat a longtime Democratic incumbent.” This time, she has eyes set on Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE).

Ocasio-Cortez is backing Kerri Evelyn Harris, an Air Force veteran and community activist, according to CBS News.

At least three of Ocasio-Cortez’s paid staffers will move temporarily from New York to Delaware by next week to help Harris ahead of her Sept. 6 primary against Carper, according to Corbin Trent, an Ocasio-Cortez spokesman. Another New York-based staffer will help with Harris’s digital outreach, according to Drew Serres, a spokesman for Harris.

The spokesmen acknowledged that the move is partly a thank-you to Harris and five members of her campaign team who traveled to New York to campaign for Ocasio-Cortez in the closing days of her primary against Crowley.

It appears Ocasio-Cortez isn’t finished there, either. She plans to endorse New York attorney general candidate Zephyr Teachout at an event in New York City Thursday afternoon. Teachout unsuccessfully ran against incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2014 and Rep. John Faso in New York’s 19th Congressional District in 2016.

Whether Ocasio-Cortez’s efforts will be successful remain to be seen, but one thing is for sure: she is determined to re-shape the Democratic Party one way or another.
