As the nation prepares for the 2018 midterms, Democratic candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in an appearance on Pod Save America on Monday, criticized Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Bob Menendez (D-NJ) for abandoning the working class.

The rising star in the party pointed out that the two senators faced underfunded primary challengers, who still stole significant portions of the Democratic electorate.

“There are people that really want to feel like there’s an unapologetic working-class champion for them,” she claimed, insinuating that both senators do not help their working class constituents.

Ocasio-Cortez cited the example of Paula Jean Swearengin, who took 30 percent in her race against Manchin.

She then moved onto Menendez, who she wrongly claimed is from Florida, pointing out the senator nearly lost to a little-known primary challenger. Perhaps her Florida slip was a reference to Menendez’s allegedly corrupt relationship with Florida doctor Salomon Melgen.
