“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something…”

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) described the terror attacks that took place on September 11, 2001, which resulted in 2,977 deaths and was the single deadliest terrorist attacks in human history, in nonchalant terms during a fundraiser for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in late March.

“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” Omar said in a video from the event that was published by the Daily Caller.

Omar, who has found herself at the center of controversy for her numerous anti-Semitic comments, was the keynote speaker at the CAIR event.

According to the Daily Caller, Omar “urged Muslim Americans to ‘raise hell’ and ‘make people uncomfortable,'” during her remarks.

CAIR itself is not without its controversy. The group has “notable ties to Islamic terrorist groups and was listed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) as an unindicted co-conspirator in funneling millions of dollars to Hamas.”
