Op-Ed in CO Asks: Why Does Hickenlooper Have ‘No Comment’ on Bilderberg?

In June, NTK Network noted that outgoing Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) – a possible 2020 presidential candidate for the Democratic Party – attended the high-powered Bilderberg meeting in Turin, Italy, with little press fanfare.

Now, at least one of Hickenlooper’s constituents is wondering why the governor is not more forthcoming about his trip overseas.

Durango’s Ben Gibson writes, in an op-ed for The Durango Herald published Tuesday:

As a Coloradan, I believe it is both true and appropriate when the journalist in the video stated to Hickenlooper that “Your electorate will want to know what you are doing here; your constituency, the people who voted you in, will want to know what happened.” Hickenlooper repeatedly said “no comment.”

…Much more transparency is both appropriate and necessary to establish a good relationship between Hickenlooper and his electorate. Behind-closed-doors meetings with high-level, international political, military, communications, banking, and corporate interests, without comment regarding the content of these meetings, does not engender trust.

Hickenlooper is no stranger to international events; he’s a frequent attendee of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. But as he prepares to leave the governor’s office – and, possibly, run for something else in 2020 – more of his constituents may be asking why he’s been jetting overseas so often during his eight-year tenure.
