A congressional special election race is heating up in the Pittsburgh suburbs, and the Democrat in the race, Conor Lamb, is trying to rally support in the GOP-leaning district.

To that end, Lamb, 33, tweeted this week that voters should trust him because he’s not beholden to what he described as “dark money” groups.

It’s a common refrain from Democrats, and one that presidential candidate Hillary Clinton often employed, as well. But like Clinton, Lamb appears to not have a leg to stand on when it comes to outside groups.

While Lamb and Clinton claimed they oppose spending by political outside groups, Clinton wholeheartedly accepted the help from those very groups, and a new video makes clear Lamb intends to follow suit.

Lamb’s YouTube account posted a two-plus minute video Thursday of the candidate speaking with “regular folk,” just like you might see in a campaign ad.

Why? So the very groups Lamb criticized can take the video and turn it into ads on Lamb’s behalf.

Unfortunately, hypocrisy is a common currency in politics, but to be so blatantly hypocritical in the span of just one week clearly demonstrates Lamb’s willingness to say or do anything to win a race.
