PA Governor Tom Wolf Doesn’t Know the ‘E-A-G-L-E-S’ Chant

The Pennsylvania governor is up for re-election this year. Will this awful gaffe before the NFC Championship game hurt his chances?

Gov. Tom Wolf (D-PA) may have hurt his reelection chances Wednesday, when he completely ruined an Eagles chant the week before the team plays for a spot in the Super Bowl.

Appearing with local Philadelphia officials at the Fresh Grocer of Grays Ferry in southwest Philadelphia, State Senator Tony Williams tried to get Wolf to join in the chant. Instead of the traditional ‘E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles!’ chant that every Philadelphian knows, Williams and Wolf directed their own version to other attendees.

It didn’t go well.

Wolf missed his cue twice in the chant, prompting confusion. The group had to reform in the middle of their chant because of their leaders’ inability to effectively conduct the rallying cry.

The Eagles will play the Minnesota Vikings this weekend at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The game will decide who will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl on February 4.

As for Wolf, he’s running for reelection as a Democrat in a state President Trump won in 2016. His Eagles screw-up in a south Philly grocery store won’t help his campaign.
