House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) condemned controversial comments on Monday that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) made over the weekend.

Waters told protesters to harass members of the Trump administration in public.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, at a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” Waters said at an event on Saturday.

“In the crucial months ahead, we must strive to make America beautiful again. Trump’s daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable,” Pelosi tweeted, linking to a CNN story about Waters’ comments. “As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea.”

Earlier in the day, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) called for Pelosi to condemn Waters’ comments.
