House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters at a press conference that universal health care is “on the table” if Democrats win Congress in November.

A reporter asked Pelosi if she would support a public health care option or the more extensive ‘Medicare-for-all’ proposal from the far left.

The House minority leader responded by discussing Democratic chances at winning the House in 2018, saying she is optimistic based on polling. But she eventually got around to discussing future health care policy.

“[The Affordable Care Act] has the structure to take us forward in many different ways,” Pelosi said.

“I’ve always been for a public option so I’m always eager to talk about that, and some of the other issues that have been proposed have to be evaluated in terms of the access that they give, the affordability of it, and how we would pay for it,” she added.

All options are “on the table,” Pelosi told the reporter.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and other far-left congressmen have pushed the measure.
