Pelosi on Impeachment: ‘Unless You Have Bipartisanship, You’re Just Acting Politically.’

"Impeachment is not something that is a partisan exercise. Unless you have bipartisanship, you're just acting politically," Pelosi said.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that Democrats who are calling for President Trump to be impeached are acting politically during an interview with KQED on Friday.

KQED reporter Scott Shafer asked Pelosi if she had changed her mind about impeaching Trump, given that Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to campaign finance law violations on Tuesday.

“No, I think that if there is a path to impeachment, we will see what that is,” Pelosi said.

Shafer asked Pelosi what she meant by this.

“It means that the Mueller investigation will continue. It will come to some conclusion. Impeachment is not something that is a partisan exercise. Unless you have bipartisanship, you’re just acting politically,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi then accused Trump of assaulting the Department of Justice and Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, and that Democrats have to make sure that they are protected.

Pelosi also called Cohen’s guilty plea “a day of reckoning” for Trump.
