Pelosi Says ‘Documents’ Could Lead House Dems, Mueller to Different ‘Conclusions’

"He may come to a different conclusion about an indictment of somebody or other. But that's a different standard for what could happen in the Congress."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) suggested that Democrats will ignore Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigations findings and develop their own conclusions if they retake the House to impeach President Trump, on Tuesday.

Pelosi was speaking at the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School when she was asked by a student how Democratic Congress would hold President Trump accountable and protect Mueller’s investigation.

“It’s something that I think we have to handle with great care. We don’t want [Trump] interfering with the Mueller agreement, we don’t want to interfere with it either,” Pelosi said. “But we do have to have one thing that we should all agree on: the truth for the American people. Where the truth leads us is another thing.”

“We have to know the truth. So, one thing that we do about the Mueller investigation is to make sure that the documentation is preserved. He may come to whatever conclusion he comes to,” Pelosi said. “He may come to a different conclusion about an indictment of somebody or other. But that’s a different standard for what could happen in the Congress.”

Pelosi added that she thinks impeachment is very divisive and not a path that she would like to go down.

“But from getting the documents and the truth and where they lead us, that’s what we have to do,” Pelosi added.
