Vice President Mike Pence, at a rally in Indiana on Wednesday, criticized the state’s Democratic senator and called for voters to send a Republican to Congress in 2018.

Citing the damage Democrats did to the United States during their last tenure in power, Pence asked Indiana to reject Sen. Joe Donnelly’s (D-IN) bid for re-election in November.

“[The Democrats] have gone farther to the left than ever before, and you only have to look at Indiana’s Senator Joe Donnelly for proof of that,” the vice president said.

“When the time came to cut your taxes, Joe voted no. When the time came to give Indiana job creators the tax relief they need to create more good paying jobs here in the Hoosier state, Joe voted no,” Pence told the crowd. “When the time came to repeal and replace Obamacare, Joe voted no. And even when we empowered Indiana to defund Planned Parenthood, Joe voted no.”

The vice president then praised the work of Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) and asked them to send another conservative to the Senate in November. Donnelly will face Republican businessman Mike Braun in his bid for re-election.
