Poll: 75% Say Release the Full Mueller Report

Most Americans want to see Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s 300-plus-page report released to the public, according to a new survey released by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist. Majorities also said Mueller conducted a “fair investigation” and reported being “satisfied” with the results.

Fully 75 percent of Americans said they believe the full report should be made public. That number includes 54 percent of Republicans and 74 percent of independents. Sixty-six percent said they would like to see Mueller testify before Congress.

President Trump said he would be fine with Attorney General William Barr releasing the full report but added that the decision is ultimately Barr’s to make.

While 56 percent of Americans said they still have some questions about the investigation, most are satisfied with the job Mueller did.

At the same time, 56 percent said Mueller conducted a fair investigation, and 51 percent said they were satisfied with it. That included 52 percent of independents who said they were satisfied with the investigation. It’s one of the rare questions in the first two years of the Trump presidency in which a majority of independents sided with Republicans instead of Democrats on a subject.

Overall, Americans view Mueller favorably, with 38 percent saying they have a positive view of the special counsel and just 25 percent reporting a negative opinion.
