Poll: Majority of MO Voters Think it’s Time to Replace Claire McCaskill

The April 2018 poll for Morning Consult is bad news for McCaskill, as a higher share of her constituents feel it's "time for [a] new person" than for almost any other incumbent senator.

Poll: Majority of MO Voters Think it’s Time to Replace Claire McCaskill

An April 2018 Morning Consult poll shared by Axios on Thursday morning suggests more of Sen. Claire McCaskill’s (D-MO) constituents think it’s time for her to go than constituents for almost any other senator up for reelection.

A whopping 53 percent of Missourians told Morning Consult it’s “time for [a] new person” to represent them in the U.S. Senate, while only 29 percent said McCaskill “deserves reelection.”

McCaskill’s “time for [a] new person” share (53 percent) was tied with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) for the highest among 10 senators (nine Democrats and one Republican) Morning Consult polled voters on in battleground states. Her “deserves reelection” share (29 percent) was third-lowest, behind only brand new Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) and Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV).

Morning Consult also found McCaskill’s approval rating seven points underwater, with 38 percent of Missourians approving of the job she’s doing and 45 percent disapproving. Her net-negative approval was worst among the 10 senators Morning Consult asked about.
